Vinyl Manufacturing

Vinyl records are still very much in the run as a format for carrying sound recordings. We offer the complete vinyl service from cutting an acetate / dub plate to printing the vinyl sleeves.

Firstly we will have your Master cut on to Wax Lacquers. Each lacquer is single sided so 2 lacquers must be cut for a two-sided record. Next, the lacquer is processed to the positive (or ‘Mother’) stage using an electro-plating process. The Mother is made out of nickel. Before Stampers are grown from the Mother, it has to be QC checked by actually playing it.. Once approved, Stampers are grown for the pressing of the records.

Test pressings will be sent to for you to listen to. If you are happy that there are no scratches, crackles or pops and approve the TP's, we can go ahead with the main run.

While all this is going on, your record labels and printed sleeves we be printing at the printers and once these arrive in, the labels are ‘baked’ to remove the moisture. The vinyls will be put on the press with the stampers and the records will be pressed. Test records will be listened to during pressing to ensure all is OK. Once the vinyl is pressed and the labels glued on, the discs are hand packed to a finished product into the chosen sleeves or Disco bags, boxed and ready to be delivered.
